Fire, smoke and water damage restoration in Aurora, Illinois.

Kitchen fires, burst pipes, sump pumps that quit in a July storm, and the mold that follows. A crew leaves Farnsworth Avenue usually within 60 minutes anywhere in Kane County; farther out, we tell you the real time when you call.

24 hours a day, a person answers. After 6pm the line forwards to Luis's cell, not a call centre.

What happens when you call, in four steps that end at a walkthrough.

  1. You call, and a crew is rolling before you hang up.(630) 555-0144 rings at the shop and, after 6pm, on Luis's cell. The person who answers asks four things: what happened, is it still running, is the power safe, and where you are. Usually within 60 minutes inside Kane County; farther out, you get the real time on that call.
  2. Mitigation: the first 24 to 48 hours.Stop the source, extract the standing water or board the opening, pull what is soaked past saving, set air movers and dehumidifiers. Every room is photographed and moisture-mapped before anyone moves a chair.
  3. Dry, clean, remediate.Moisture readings every day until the structure reads dry. Soot and smoke residue cleaned from every surface and the duct runs. Mold or sewage contamination removed under containment by IICRC AMRT certified technicians, cleared by a separate hygienist. Then a written, itemized scope of the rebuild.
  4. Rebuild and walkthrough. Our own carpenters put the drywall, trim, cabinets and flooring back: one company, one project manager, from the first truck to the last coat of paint. Luis walks the finished rooms with you, and the job is not done until you say it is.

Luis started this shop in 2014.

Eleven years running fire and water crews for a franchise in Naperville, then one truck and a rented bay on Farnsworth Avenue. Today it is twelve technicians, four trucks and a carpentry crew that does nothing but our rebuilds. Luis still rides the first truck to every fire call, day or night, because the first hour decides how much of the house can be saved.

Let us photograph everything before anyone moves a chair. The pictures are yours, and they answer every question that comes up later.

Luis, owner, Fox Valley Fire and Water

Fire first, then water, mold, sewage, storm, contents and the rebuild.

Mitigation stops the damage from spreading in the first day or two. Remediation removes a hazard such as mold or sewage. Restoration puts the house back the way it was before the loss. We do all three, in that order, with the same crew.

Ask about one of these
  • Fire damage restorationKitchen and electrical fires, from one scorched cabinet run to a gutted first floor. Charred material out, framing cleaned and sealed, structure dried after the fire department's water. FSRT certified technicians run every fire job.
  • Smoke and soot cleaningSoot wiped from every surface including the inside of closets and the duct runs, then the odour taken out of the framing with thermal fogging and hydroxyl generators, not masked with fragrance.
  • Water damage restorationBurst supply lines, failed water heaters, overflowing tubs, sump pumps that quit. Extraction, flood cuts, air movers and LGR dehumidifiers set the same visit, moisture readings every day until the structure is dry. WRT certified technicians.
  • Mold remediationContainment, negative air, removal of the affected material and HEPA cleaning by IICRC AMRT certified technicians, with the moisture source fixed first so it does not come back. A separate hygienist clears the work; we never test our own job.
  • Sewage cleanupA backed-up floor drain or ejector pit is Category 3 water. Everything porous it touched comes out, the slab and framing are cleaned and disinfected, and the air is scrubbed before anyone moves back in.
  • Storm damageWind-driven rain through a failed window, a tree limb through a wall, water in a window well. Board-up the same visit, then the drying. Roof tarps are set by a licensed roofing contractor we bring in; we stay on the inside.
  • Contents cleaning and pack-outFurniture, clothes, photographs and paper inventoried and photographed, then packed out to our Aurora warehouse for cleaning, deodorising and storage until the rooms are ready.
  • RebuildOur own carpenters, not a subcontractor you have not met: drywall, trim, cabinets, flooring, paint. One project manager from the first truck to the last walkthrough.

Where our job ends and your insurer's begins.

We photograph and document the damage, take moisture readings and map them, write an itemized Xactimate estimate, and give your insurer the records it asks for. We can meet your adjuster on site to walk the damage and explain our scope. Coverage decisions and the claim settlement stay between you and your insurer. We are not public adjusters. Your deductible is your responsibility and cannot be waived.

Three homeowners, three towns, the job each one is talking about.

The fire department left at two in the morning and Luis's crew was in the driveway by three. They had the house boarded, the smoke smell under control and every room photographed before I had finished talking to my sister. Six weeks later the kitchen looked like the one we bought the house for.

Four inches of water in a finished basement on a Sunday night. The crew pulled the carpet and cut the drywall that night, ran the dryers for four days with readings every morning on a sheet taped to the fridge, and the rebuild crew was the same people. The written estimate matched the final bill.

A leaking shower valve had been feeding mold inside a wall for a year. Fox Valley put up containment, took the wall out, fixed the valve, had a separate hygienist clear it, and tiled it back. Nobody tried to sell me a whole-house treatment.
